Good things happen to students who read a great deal in a foreign language. Research studies show they become better and more confident readers, they write better, their listening and speaking abilities improve, and their vocabularies become richer. In addition, they develop a positive attitude toward and increased motivation to study the new language.

In the Reading for Pleasure project, students choose their own books - be it a comic book, a classic novel, a short story, or a fairy tale - and read it at the beginning of each lesson. They read for the joy of reading, and also to improve fluency and reading comprehension. The reading is done independently and silently inside a classroom and continued at home. Once students finish their book, they are requested to reflect on it and write a book report or alternatively come up with a post-reading project. The fruits of their labor are proudly presented here.
